I thought I’d just refocus on the whole point of this exercise, the visit, the blog and all. It is to raise awareness of the work my brother and his wife are doing in the East Usambara mountains in Tanzania. They run a small charity called Tukae which means, come together in the local language, Kisaamba. This funds health posts for the locals, where they can go for advice or to have a blood test to confirm if they have malaria. It also provides volunteers to teach English in the local primary school and develop the site further, and of course pays the wages of the staff at Emau Hill and the women’s workshop. Hopefully in time the women’s workshop will be self sufficient and if the reaction to the bags that I’ve had is anything to go by, there is a definite market for them.
