Well I’m back after a totally exhausting conference at the Blackpool De Vere Hotel. Whatever conceptions you have about Blackpool, the De Vere Hotel will challenge them. It is a haven of good taste, luxury and calm. Well calm till we got there – 25 exhibition stands, 16 workshops two keynotes made for a very busy day. Most of our team even managed to wear corporate (JISC) colours – orange and blue.
So hi to Ian, Kevin, Dave, Mick, John and Neil (who kindly put a comment on the previous post) Dee, Sue and Emma and John B – it was a ball.

Hmmm – I shall bear this in mind when I am next visiting Blackpool. Nothing needs challenging more than my entrenched preconceptions of the place!
Best wishes

Actually Bill, the rest of the place is just the same – if not worse. Whenever I go there, I pop into the town to do some shopping, and inevitably get back saying – bloodyhell it’s rough!

I’m always scared of getting a place to stay in Blackpool. Is this hotel worth the prices they charge?

Well it depends on what you mean and the charges they are quoting. I would recommend the Singleton Lodge as much better value and a friendly atomosphere. De Vere is v posh and v nice but also v expensive.
