A couple of days ago a colleague of mine Kev sent me an email with a podcast link on it. It was from the Infinate Thinking Machine which is a Google sponosored site about elearning. On this was a link to the podcast – http://www.edtechlive.com/audio/Kristian.mp3 and along with it a further link to a Trailfire – http://trailfire.com/Kristianstill/trailview/38344. The interview is with a remarkable young teacher called Kristian Still who teaches BTEC National in sport at Taunton’s college near Southampton. He has used Web 2.0 technology to engage and enthuse young people who were not fully engaged in the education process. He used a wiki for discussions, collaborative mind mapping, slide shows and RSS feeds. It is a great example of using what is available in a really creative and supportive way.

I hadn’t come across trailfire before but essentially takes you through the various web pages that he is talking about in the interview. Each page also has a short set of notes attached to it, so you can go through and read the explanations without having to listen to the mp3. The pages are live so update natuarally.  It really is worth the effort of going through the work that the group that Kristian teaches have done.
